Seabird Gillnet Interaction Project
The Seabird Gillnet Interaction Project is a partnership Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF). This project collects data on interactions between fishing gear and seabirds that informs AFDF's Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) sustainability certification for the Alaska salmon fishery. The project will contribute valuable data to help to satisfy the MSC condition regarding seabird and gillnet interactions, allowing for continued MSC certification of Alaska salmon, while directly educating, involving, and building trust among fishermen and managers in the monitoring process.
